Koichi Shimizu
Sound artist and composer based in Yamanashi, Japan. His distinctive style has been shaped by years of hands-on experience across a wide range of sonic practices—including composition, recording, mixing, PA system design and tuning, and multi-channel sound spatialization.
Since returning to Japan in 2020, Shimizu has focused on developing his solo works and live performances, while also designing sound for director Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s performance pieces such as Fever Room and A Conversation with the Sun (VR), presented internationally.
His work delves into the relationship between layered resonance, sound as a form of physical energy, and the imagery or memories they evoke—continually exploring how sound engages human perception and consciousness.
